Petrol and diesel prices were increased for two consecutive days on Tuesday and Wednesday across the country. On Tuesday, the prices of diesel and petrol were increased by 80 paise per liter. At the same time, on Wednesday, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 80 paise in Delhi and 85 paise in Mumbai.

CNG-PNG prices increased on Thursday
On Thursday, the prices of petrol and diesel were not increased, but the prices of CNG and PNG were increased. In Delhi, the price of CNG was increased by 50 paise per kg and that of PNG by Re 1 per kg.

Domestic gas cylinder has also become expensive
Oil companies had also increased the price of domestic gas cylinders by Rs 50 on Tuesday. In Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, a 14.2 kg non-subsidised cylinder had reached above Rs 1,000 after the price hike.

3.31 lakh crore recovered from tax in 9 months
From April to December (2021), the central government has collected Rs 3.31 lakh crore from taxes on petroleum products including petrol and diesel. This has been revealed through an RTI. The government said that customs duty of Rs 37,653.14 crore was collected on import of petroleum products, while Rs 2,93,967.93 crore has been deposited in the exchequer as central excise duty. Here, if we talk about excise duty, so far the central government has increased the duty 13 times, while it has been reduced only 4 times.
