Modi discussed with Putin about the safe evacuation of Indian citizens

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over phone and discussed with him about the safe evacuation of Indian nationals stranded in fighting-hit areas in Ukraine. Giving details of talks between Modi and Putin, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement issued tonight that the two leaders reviewed the situation in Ukraine, especially in the city of Kharkiv, where many Indian students are stranded.

Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine issued an advisory advising the Indian people to leave Kharkiv immediately and reach three settlements located at a distance of about 12 to 15 km from there. The embassy had advised them to reach those three places by 6 pm local time, saying that if they do not get the facility of vehicle or train, then they should reach there on foot.
Meanwhile, apart from Indian Airlines, Indian Air Force aircraft have also been deployed in Operation Ganga to bring back Indians from Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi has spoken to Putin for the second time in the last six days regarding the Ukraine crisis. It is noteworthy that yesterday morning a young man, studying medicine, died in a shelling in Kharkiv. Apart from this, a student of Punjab also died in Ukraine today due to heart attack. He was ill for some time. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi held a high-level review meeting on the situation in Ukraine at around 8.30 pm today. Modi is holding such meetings every day and is monitoring the situation himself.
