State Granted Schools on Ventilator: 2700 schools closed in 17 years, school cost 61 thousand and government grant only Rs. 20 thousand, 25 thousand only tax

Has been giving one grant for years: President of Ahmedabad City School Board

Private schools have been growing in the state for the last two decades. A situation is being created in which a grant-aided school seems to be closing down to make private school-administrators ghee-bananas. 2700 Granted Schools have been closed in Gujarat in last 17 years. There were 10,000 grant schools before 2005, which has now dropped to 7300 in 2022. The government’s grant policy is responsible for the closure of grant-aided schools. Granted schools receive less grants, so over time the school has to close and new private schools begin to open.

It’s time to lock as the cost exceeds the grant
A grant of Rs.3000 per class is given every month in the school granted by the state government. The school which has 5 to 12 classes gives a grant of only Rs. 2500 per month to the school. Where there are more than 12 classes, even less is given as a grant of only Rs.2000. He has to spend a lot of money against the grant received by the schools. When schools can’t afford it, schools have to be locked up.
Granted schools in the state run on some trusts. The government gives grants to schools, but if we look at the cost of schools, the government grant is the same as chana-mamara. On the one hand, the FRC approves fees of millions of rupees as private schools are encouraged, and on the other hand, the grant-aided schools have come to oxygen by getting grants from the old system. This has also led to a situation where some schools have reached the ventilator from oxygen.

4300 secondary schools out of 7300
Out of the existing 7300 Granted Schools, 4300 Granted Schools are for Secondary only, in which only Std. 9 and 10 are studied, while there are 3000 Secondary and Higher Secondary schools Many of these schools are still on the verge of closure. The main reason for the closure of granted schools is the current grant policy of the government.

40,000 more than the grant
Most Granted Schools have 2 classes of any one standard, so that one school has 8 classes of Granted. Thus the school gets a grant of Rs. 2500 per class i.e. Rs. 20,000 for 8 classes, against which the school has to bear more than 60,000 expenses per month. Grants cost more than Rs 40,000. If we talk about one year, the school has to spend 5 lakh rupees in one year. Since not every school can afford Rs 5 lakh, a large number of applications are received for closure of Granted Schools and many Granted Schools are closed every year.

Zero grants to schools with less than 30% results
Grants in Granted Schools are also given on the basis of the results of the schools, 0 Grants are given to the school whose result is less than 30%. If the result is less than 40% then 50% grant is given. Schools in rural and tribal areas have low results, which has resulted in some schools not even receiving grants, which has led some administrators to shift the school from a grant-aided school to a private school.

The government’s grant policy is also responsible for the closure of schools: school administrators
In this regard, the school principal and president of the Ahmedabad city school governing body AK Bharwad said that the responsibility of providing education, health and protection lies with the government. However, the education sector does not pay attention. The government’s grant policy is also responsible for the closure of grant-aided schools. A one-on-one grant has been given for years. Grants should be given according to the actual cost. Many large schools not only do charity, but also to a limited extent. After that it will also close. If the grant policy does not change, not a single grantee school will be seen in the next 10 years.
