PM Security Breach Case: Center said – there may be a case of international terrorism, NIA should investigate
PM Security Breach Case:During the hearing in the Supreme Court in the case of lapse in the security of PM Modi in Punjab, the Center made many allegations against the state government. On behalf of the Central Government, it has been said in the Supreme Court that the matter of security of the Prime Minister is rare to rare. It has embarrassed us internationally. This has come to the fore as a serious threat to the security of the Prime Minister. On the inquiry committee set up by the Punjab government, the Center said that the state Home Minister is also under investigation in this matter. Hence he cannot be part of the inquiry panel.
Investigation should be done by NIA
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the Supreme Court that since the case is a case of cross-border terrorism, NIA officers can assist in the investigation. At the same time, in the matter, the Punjab government has said in the Supreme Court that we are taking this matter seriously. We have formed an inquiry committee. Even the inquiry committee has been formed by the Centre. The committee is completely open. Anyone can be appointed to investigate.
court should constitute committee
On the question raised by the Center on the state committee, the Punjab government said that we also do not have faith in the committee constituted by the Centre. If the Punjab panel cannot investigate, then the central panel cannot either. It would be better if the court constitutes a committee. Advocate General DS Patwalia, appearing for the Punjab government, submitted that the court may appoint any other retired judge or other officers to conduct the investigation.
State has no right to investigate
Senior advocate Maninder Singh, who has filed a petition in the Supreme Court in the matter, said that the state does not specifically have the right to investigate. This is not a law and order issue in the state. He said that it is the duty of the state and union territory to help in the protocol of SPG. Unlike the SPG Act, it is not a state subject or a law and order issue. He further said that the security of the PM is an issue of national security and it comes under the ambit of Parliament. The incident needs professional investigation.
