Chidambaram said that BJP’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections has disappeared after its announcement. On the other hand the Congress manifesto has gained popularity due to its welfare promises.

PTI, New Delhi. Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said that the BJP’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections has disappeared after the announcement. On the other hand, the Congress manifesto has gained popularity due to its welfare promises.

In a post on X, P Chidambaram said the Congress manifesto is based on three driving principles: work, wealth and welfare. There is nothing in the BJP manifesto that is comparable to the Congress manifesto. That is why PM Modi and other BJP leaders do not speak about their manifesto. BJP’s manifesto has disappeared. The manifesto of Congress has left a deep impression on the minds of the people and has become a topic of discussion among crores of people of the country.

Congress manifesto is inclusive- Chidambaram
Chidambaram, who heads the Congress manifesto committee, said his party’s election document has an inclusive approach and talks only about the poor.

Speaking in Solapur, Maharashtra, the Prime Minister said that SCs, STs, OBCs and the poor have the first right on the country’s resources, PM Manmohan Singh had said the same thing in his speech at the National Development Council in November 2006, he asked. Dr. Manmohan Singh had added minorities, women and children to that list. Why did PM Narendra Modi forget minorities, women and children? Aren’t there poor minorities, poor women and poor children?

He further said that the correct formulation would be that the poor have the first claim on the country’s resources.

Congress manifesto will uplift the poor- Chidambaram
Chidambaram said, Congress believes that despite development, there is a significant number of poor in the country. Hence, ‘pivot to the poor’. He said the Congress manifesto contains policies that will uplift the poor, increase their incomes and reduce worrying inequalities in India.

Chidambaram was the chairman of the Congress manifesto committee for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier on April 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had claimed that Congress and India Bloc were spreading lies on OBC representation and said that Congress never wanted Dalit, tribal and OBC leadership to lead the country.

PM Modi had accused Congress
Addressing a public meeting in Solapur, Maharashtra, PM Modi said that Congress insulted Dalit leader Dr. BR Ambedkar.

PM said, Congress never wanted Dalit, tribal and OBC leadership in the country. This is the same Congress which had insulted Dalit leader Dr. BR Ambedkar. Baba Saheb Ambedkar received Bharat Ratna when the BJP supported government was in power at the Centre.

He said, it has always been the endeavor of BJP to ensure maximum representation for SC, ST and OBC. In 2014, when you gave us a huge majority, NDA made the son of a Dalit (Ramnath Kovind) the President of the country (Draupadi Murmu).
