Atiq-Ashraf murder case reaches Supreme Court, former judge demands probe under supervision
Atiq Ahmed Shot Dead: Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in front of Colvin Hospital in Prayagraj on Saturday. Questions are being raised on the murder in police custody.
The case of the murder of Mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj has reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the murder under the supervision of a former judge. Along with this, all 183 encounters in Uttar Pradesh after 2017 have also been demanded to be investigated.
It may be mentioned here that gangster and former Baahubali MP Atiq Ahmad killed in Prayagraj and his brother Ashraf were buried in Kasari Masari graveyard. The bodies of both reached the Kasari Masari cemetery amid tight security and were later buried in the presence of their families.
Atiq’s son Asad, who was killed in an encounter two days ago, was also buried in this graveyard. Heavy security was seen around the cemetery. Earlier, Atiq and Ashraf were postmortemed. The postmortem was done by a panel of five doctors.
The crime branch is busy interrogating the accused
17 policemen deployed to protect Atiq and Ashraf have been suspended. UP Police is on alert mode and Section 144 has been imposed in all districts of the state. Holidays of policemen have also been cancelled. All three accused in his murder have been arrested and the Crime Branch is interrogating them. An FIR has also been registered at the Shahganj Police Station in Prayagraj for the murder of both.
Both were shot dead
Let it be known that on Saturday night, Atiq and Ashraf were shot dead when they were being taken to the hospital for medical examination. When Atiq started talking to the media, the three assailants started firing at him. In which both died on the spot. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself took note of this incident.
