Mercedes-Benz partners with Google: Now Mercedes cars will also get Google Maps and YouTube services, taking on Tesla and BYD
Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz on Thursday (February 23) announced a long-term strategic partnership with Google to optimize its navigation experience. The company said in a statement, “This partnership will help Mercedes-Benz create a driving experience that combines information from Google Maps with luxury cars.”
Mercedes cars will get new features
Along with this partnership, Mercedes-Benz will also provide its customers with a feature that will provide them with accurate information about where they are going through Google. The company agreed to further collaboration using Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence (AI), data and open infrastructure solutions.
YouTube app will be found in the infotainment system of Mercedes-Benz
The partnership will also bring the YouTube app to the Mercedes-Benz infotainment system. Apart from that, Mercedes-Benz will use data from Google Maps to activate assistive features such as speed adjustment before turning on four roads, semi roads or somewhere.

Mercedes-Benz Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ola Kallenius said, “With our strategic partnership, we are very excited to create unique services and enhance our customer base. It will be integrated within our signature Mercedes-Benz user interface and fully equipped with relevant state-of-charge functions.
What did Google CEO Sundar Pichai say?
Talking about this partnership with Mercedes-Benz, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet said, ‘Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz will prove to be helpful in providing some new experience to the drivers. Drivers will also get advanced technologies like Google Maps platform, cloud and YouTube.
Sundar Pichai further said, ‘Apart from this, we will also provide our AI and data capabilities to companies to enable Mercedes-Benz to design a customized navigation interface. This can boost the company’s sustainability efforts. Apart from this, it will also help the company to advance its autonomous driving system and create a better customer experience.
Mercedes-Benz to take on Tesla and BYD
The partnership will help Mercedes-Benz compete with other Chinese players like Elon Musk’s Tesla and BYD. Meanwhile, other carmakers such as General Motors, Renault, Nissan and Ford have also embedded a whole package of Google services into their vehicles, including services like Google Maps and Google Assistant.
