Now it has been revealed that WhatsApp has banned more than 36 lakh Indian accounts within a month. The company has shared this figure in the compliance report. Between December 1 and December 31, WhatsApp has banned a total of 3,677,000 accounts in India. The company said that 1,389,000 of these accounts were proactively banned.

Meta-owned platform WhatsApp has shared a monthly compliance report under regulations related to IT Rules, 2021. The report states that necessary action has been taken against millions of accounts misusing WhatsApp. To identify Indian accounts, the company uses the country code (+91) attached to the number. WhatsApp has more than 40 crore users in India.
Social media including WhatsApp have to file a report every month
In December, users sent 1,607 complaints to WhatsApp’s complaints department. The company has said that after investigation, 166 of these complaints have been acted upon. Notably, the IT Rules 2021 clarified that all platforms with a userbase of more than 50 lakhs will have to publish monthly compliance reports.
