Legendary footballer Pele in critical condition: Friends and relatives arrive at hospital, daughter shares photo

All time great football player Pele is in critical condition. The great Brazilian footballer is currently battling death in a hospital in Sao Paulo. He has been kept under special observation. His health is steadily deteriorating and it is affecting his kidneys and heart.

Close friends and family members are flocking to the hospital to see off the 82-year-old veteran footballer who is battling cancer. On Sunday, his family celebrated Christmas at the hospital. His daughter, Kelly Nascimento, posted a family photo on Insta on Sunday morning. He wrote in his Insta post 3 hours ago- ‘Gratitude, love, family togetherness… that’s the essence of Christmas. Thank you for the love you sent at Christmas…thanks and love. I am nothing without him (Pele) in this fun and wonderful life. Today and always, Merry Christmas.’

While, son Edinho wrote in an emotional post on Instagram- ‘Dad… you are my strength.’ Pele’s son Edson Cholby arrived at the hospital on Saturday. It is known as Edinho. Pele’s daughter Kelly Nascimento is also in the hospital.

Went to the hospital for a routine checkup

Pele was admitted to the hospital for a routine checkup, but gradually his health began to deteriorate. They haven’t come out yet. Pele had a heart problem. His medical staff expressed concern, as his chemotherapy treatment was not responding well. His colon tumor was removed in September 2021. After that, chemotherapy was done. Pale had been admitted to the hospital several times before.

Only player to score more than 100 goals in two consecutive years

Pele scored 127 goals in a calendar year in 1959 and 110 in 1961. He is the only player in the world to do so. Apart from that, Zambian footballer Godfrey Chitalu scored 107 goals for club and country in 1972. But Pele has touched the 100 mark twice in two consecutive years.
