Ashwini Vaishnaw holds the Ministry of Railways along with Telecom. He has given clear instructions to the officers that if they cannot work then they should take VRS. Vaishnav took over the post last year and many officers have taken VRS since he became a minister.
A senior BSNL official, who was caught taking a nap in the meeting of Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, has taken Voluntary Retirement (VRS). The officer took a nap in a meeting of Vaishnavites. The cabinet had approved a package of Rs 1.64 lakh crore in July to bring BSNL back on track. Thereafter, Vaishnav had asked BSNL employees to perform best in the first week of August at an all India Chief General Manager (CGM) level meeting and either turn around the company in two years or opt for VRS. According to sources, in the meeting, the minister caught a CGM taking a nap and asked him to take VRS out of the room immediately. His VRS was cleared on Thursday.
According to sources, the officer was working as Quality Assurance and Inspection (CGM) in Bengaluru. In this regard, emails sent to the Telecom Ministry and BSNL did not get any response till writing the news. Vaishnav has given an ultimatum to 62 thousand BSNL employees to change their attitude. He has asked the employees to improve or wrap up the sacks and beds. He says that the government attitude of the employees will not be tolerated at all. This company, which once ruled the telecom sector, is facing losses today.
Many officers have taken VRS
Ashwini Vaishnav had recently called a meeting of officials. In this, he warned the BSNL staff that if they do not live up to the expectations, then take retirement and sit at home. They have been asked to be prepared in view of the increasing competition in the telecom sector. Vaishnav has said that those who do not want to work, they should take VRS. Vaishnav has instructed that this mismanagement will have to be managed by the top leadership. If this is not done then scissors will run on them. Vaishnav is also the Railway Minister.
