In view of the huge public opposition, the administration has issued a prohibitory order banning large gatherings or any large crowd in the city.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has directed to take swift action on this incident. He has said that such incidents have no place in the society. Such people should never be forgiven. They should be punished severely. He tweeted, “Heartfelt tribute to daughter Ankita. With the help of Rs 10 lakh to Ankita’s family, this heinous incident will be fast-tracked. The Director General of Police has also been directed to give an early report on the progress of investigation by an ADG rank officer in the case.
At the same time the deceased named the accused and another person as Chhotu in his dying statement. She said that while she was sleeping, the duo threw petrol on her from outside the window and set her on fire. He said, his whole body was burnt except for his face. Police are interrogating another accused Chhotu Khan alias Naeem, who has been taken into custody. Police said the situation is normal and under control. People are supporting us. We appeal to people to maintain peace. Dumka Superintendent of Police said that the situation is under control and Section 144 has been imposed.
Notably, on August 23, after a failed one-sided love affair, Shah Rukh set fire to Ankita, the 19-year-old daughter of neighborhood businessman Sanjeev Singh, by pouring petrol through her window late at night while she was sleeping, in which she suffered 90 per cent burns. Communal tension has spread in the area following this incident.
