Red alert in 6 districts: Heavy rain forecast in north and central Gujarat from tomorrow till July 27, heavy rain is also likely in Ahmedabad

The intensity of rain has reduced in Gujarat for the last two-three days, but another round of rain is about to start again. A low pressure has become active in the sea towards Pakistan, which may reach Gujarat in the next 24 hours. Due to this low pressure, the state including Ahmedabad may receive moderate to heavy rains during July 23 to 27.
The effect of low pressure in Ahmedabad will start from Friday night itself. Heavy and very heavy rains may occur in north and central Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has declared orange and red alert in Kutch, North Gujarat on Saturday and Sunday due to the possibility of heavy rain.
The intensity of rain may increase in many districts on Sunday
Orange alert has been issued in Kutch-Banaskantha-Patan-Mehsana-Gandhinagar-Aravalli-Surendranagar-Morbi, while Yellow alert has been issued in Jamnagar-Rajkot-Bota-Ahmedabad-Kheda on Saturday. Rain may increase in many districts on Sunday. A red alert has been issued in Kutch on Saturday, an orange alert in Banaskantha-Patan-Mehsana-Morbi-Jamnagar-Surendranagar-Devbhoomi Dwarka, while a yellow alert has been issued in Rajkot-Botad-Porbandar-Ahmedabad-Kheda-Gandhinagar-Sabarkantha-Aravalli. According to a private weather forecasting agency, Ahmedabad is likely to receive heavy rain tomorrow and Sunday.
Gujarat received 60 percent rainfall with 20.25 inches
Gujarat has received more than 60 percent of the rainfall in the first monsoon season with 20.25 inches. Zone-wise in the state, 104 percent of the season’s rainfall has been recorded in Kutch, 36 percent in North Gujarat, 51 percent in Central Gujarat, 58 percent in Saurashtra and 75 percent in South Gujarat. In the last 24 hours, 119 talukas have received rain, including Mansa in Gandhinagar, Prantij in Sabarkantha, Dhansura in Aravalli and Kaprada in Valsad have received an inch of rain. North Gujarat has recorded the lowest rainfall so far. Meghraja has been predicted by the Meteorological Department to hit North Gujarat from today.
Heavy rain expected in North Gujarat
Due to the effect of low pressure, during the next four days, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana in central Gujarat, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara in central Gujarat and Panchmahal, Chotaudepur, Valsad in south Gujarat. Due to the effect of low pressure, light to moderate rain will start in Ahmedabad from late night on Friday and moderate to heavy rain is expected on Saturday-Sunday, the Meteorological Department has expressed.
