Brijesh Doshi, Gandhinagar: Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel said regarding Lumpy Skin Diseases in the cow-buffalo category in the state, extensive vaccination and intensive treatment is being provided by the state government led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to control this disease. Instead of panicking about Lumpy Skin Diseases, breeders need to be vigilant.

The minister added that currently the symptoms of this disease have been observed in 11 districts of Saurashtra and Kutch region of the state, in which the disease has been observed in cattle from Devbhumi-Dwarka, Jamnagar, Kutch, Rajkot, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Junagadh, Morbi, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Surat districts. .

The minister appealed to the animal breeders to be vigilant and said that if any animal shows symptoms of this disease, the animal breeders should contact Animal Helpline no. 1962 and contact the nearest government veterinary hospital, so that timely treatment and vaccination can prevent the spread of this disease to other animals and control this disease.

As per the advice of the local veterinary officer, the animal husbandry should first separate the diseased animal from other healthy animals and provide its food, water and grooming separately, stop the movement of animals from the diseased area, keep the place of animal accommodation clean, as per the advice of the veterinary officer, control flies, mosquitoes and Preventing the infestation of others, so that the transmission of this disease can be prevented.

It may be mentioned here that Lumpy Skin Disease is a virus-borne disease, which is spread by mosquitoes, flies, lice, wasps etc. and also by direct contact with infected animals, contaminated food and water. The symptoms of this disease are general fever in animals, discharge from eyes and nose, salivation from the mouth, soft blisters like tumors all over the body, decrease in milk production and stop eating or difficulty in eating. In some cases, pregnant animals may be washed away and sometimes even die.

Regarding the damage caused to agriculture due to heavy rains in the state, the minister said that in the districts affected by heavy rains in South Gujarat, Central Gujarat and Saurashtra, the work of erosion of agricultural land and crop damage survey has been carried out.

It is to be mentioned that due to the floods of rivers and heavy rains in the fields of Dang, Navsari and Valsad in South Gujarat, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Bharuch in Central Gujarat and Gir Somnath and Junagadh districts of Saurashtra, the system has been instructed to complete the damage survey work more intensively and submit a report. . Assistance will be provided by the state government as per the report received regarding the damage caused to the affected.
