Elephant crosses Ganges with mahout VIDEO: Elephant swims for 1 km amidst heavy currents

A video has surfaced of an elephant swimming across the Ganges with a mahout on its back in Radhopur, Vaishali, Bihar. The mahout was trapped with an elephant in the Radhopur area on Tuesday due to a sudden rise in water in the river Ganga. Mahavat then decided to cross the Ganges with an elephant. He reached the other shore on the back of an elephant in the turbulent Ganges following the floods.
The mahout did not even have money or food
The mahout came with an elephant on Tuesday, locals said. Suddenly the water rose in the Ganges and both were trapped. A big boat was needed to get the elephant out. The mahout did not have much to eat or money. He then decided to cross the river with the elephant.
He was sitting holding the elephant’s ear and neck
The mahout was sitting on the elephant’s neck holding his ears. Locals said it often felt like the two would be strained in the flow of the river. The elephant swam a distance of one kilometer from Rustampur Ghat to Patna Jethuki Ghat.
