No longer Kohli, India's veteran batsman becomes 'King' of Tests, 5th in ICC Test rankings

Virat Kohli has suffered a major setback. He dropped out of the top-10 in the ICC rankings and was replaced by Rishabh Pant.
The Test now seems to be Virat Kohli’s return and instead wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant is slowly dominating the Test. Virat is not among the top 10 Test players in the latest ICC Test rankings but instead Pant has been ranked 5th which is a big deal. Virat Kohli has not been able to score a century for more than two and a half years and now this veteran batsman has been hit one more time. Virat Kohli has also slipped out of the top 10 in the Test rankings. In the new Test rankings released on Wednesday, Virat Kohli has moved up to 13th position.
Before the Edgbaston Test, Virat Kohli was 10th, now 13th
Virat Kohli was 10th before the Edgbaston Test but slipped to 3rd place due to poor performance. He has been replaced by Johnny Bairstow, who has scored centuries in both innings of the Edgbaston Test. Bairstow has reached 10th place. Virat Kohli was in the top 10 for the last 6 years but after 2053 days he had to get out of it.
Rishabh Pant in fifth position in Test rankings
England batsman Joe Root is in No. 1 position. Jo Root is the only batsman with more than 900 rating points. In second place is Marnus Labuschagne of Australia with 879 rating points. Steve Smith is third and Babar Azam is fourth. Rishabh Pant has reached the fifth position in the Test rankings. Pant has become India’s top Test ranked batsman, with Rohit Sharma in 9th position.
Virat Kohli’s poor form is responsible
Let me tell you that the reason for dropping Virat Kohli out of the top 10 is his consistently poor performance. Virat Kohli has been performing very poorly in Test cricket for the last two years. Virat Kohli has played 16 Tests in the last two years and during this time he has scored only 834 runs with his bat at an average of 29.78. Not a single century has come out of Virat’s bat during this time. Virat has scored only 6 half centuries and has been dismissed 4 times for 0 runs.
Johnny Bairstow ranked 10th in the top-10
England’s Johnny Bairstow has also made it to the top-10 in Test cricket. Bairstow has reached number 10.
