The 5th Test match between India and England was scheduled to be played from July 1 and before that, Team India has suffered a major setback. In the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) held on Saturday, Rohit Sharma was found to be positive for corona. Rohit Sharma is currently in isolation at the hotel and is being monitored by a BCCI medical team. Rohit Sharma will undergo RT-PCR test on Sunday.

Whether Rohit will be able to play in the Tests starting July 1 depends on how fast he recovers. “Rohit Sharma is currently in isolation at the team’s hotel and is being monitored by BCCI’s medical team. An RT-PCR test will be conducted on Sunday to find out his CT value,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah told media.
Notably, Team India is playing a practice match against Leicestershire. Former captain Virat Kohli, who has been trying to get back in form for a long time, scored 67 on the third and final day of the practice match against Leicestershire before the Test against England. After scoring 80 for one at the start of the day, India were 364 for seven in 92 overs by the end of the game. The Indian team declared the first innings with eight wickets and 246 runs. Leicestershire scored 244 in reply. Kohli hit 67 off 98 balls with five fours and two sixes. Apart from Kohli, Jadeja scored 56 and Shreyas Iyer 62 runs.
