● If there is any water complaint, we will immediately visit and resolve it – Water Supply Officer

Summers are a difficult time for people living in mountainous areas. As it is a rocky area, not even 500 feet of water is available here, so in the summer, due to drying up of rivers and canals, even the boreholes become empty. At that time a serious water problem arises in the border villages of Vansada taluka of Navsari. Women go to the forest area, risk their lives to get contaminated water from rivers or ditches or by digging ditches, which puts their health at risk.

Forced to fetch water from a river, ditch or ravine
Many hilly areas of Khergam, Chikhli and Vansada talukas of the tribal belt of Navsari district are flooded with the onset of summer. Water is bored especially in villages like Chorvan, Kandha, Mankunia, Khanpur, Mola Mango, Khata Mango on the border of Vansada taluka, but in summer when water dries up, water is not available even from 600 feet. So the women of the village gather in the morning and evening to fetch water from the river, ditch or ravine in the forest area.

Dig a pit, fill it with water in a plastic
Local Jitubhai said that there is a lot of water problem here and we fetch water from far away. Having to fetch water from a distance of one or two km from here is also bad. Since the woman of our house does not go alone, she goes with the children and many other women. So we request the government to make it a boring and water tank. We dig a water storage pit and fill it with water in a plastic bed. Then you have to use it for bathing and drinking water, which lasts for 15 to 20 days.

Even the river scares us
“We have to fetch water from far away,” said Amitabh Chaudhary, a resident of Molla Mango. There is a river two-three hours away, you have to go there. You have to go through the bushes, where even the wild animals are in danger. So 20-25 sisters go together to fetch water. Even though we were given a bore, we no longer get water from that bore. So we go to the river. We are also very scared of animals in the river so we draw water from there and bring it home and wash our clothes at home. The government has only one borehole and one water tank.

If there is a problem, we will solve it immediately – Water Supply Officer
In this regard, Shilpa Raj, Deputy Incharge, Vansada Water Supply Department, said that the water supply department has started supplying water to Border Village and surrounding villages by pumping machine through bore and well before the onset of summer. Where some villages are in progress and works have been completed in some villages. Bore and pumping machines have been lowered into the well and water supply has been started. Now there is no complaint that the water in the bore has dried up or there is a boom in the water and if there is any such complaint, we will immediately visit and solve any problem and turn on the water supply.
