Canada Visitor Visa: A large number of people from Gujarat and across the country go to Canada. In this direction, now there is big news for people going to Canada. In fact, the Canadian government is now shutting down major facilities offered to its visitors. The immigration unit of the Government of Canada, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released information in this regard. The country is now discontinuing the visitor work permit facility. This new rule has been implemented from 28 August 2024.

Let’s know what is this Canada Visitor Work Permit?

Under the previous rule, people traveling to Canada on visitor visas were allowed to work there on a temporary basis. For this he was granted a Visitor Work Permit by IRCC Canada. But now the Trudeau government has tightened the work rules for people living on Canada visitor visas. This means that visitors cannot apply for a work permit while in Canada.

In fact this rule was introduced in August 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. At that time many people were stuck in Canada and could not go back. So the government allowed him to stay and work in Canada. The rule was earlier supposed to expire by February 2025 but was given a few days relaxation. Now finally it has been implemented from 28th August.

Old applications will be considered

However, IRCC has clarified that all applications received before August 28, 2024 will be considered as per the old rules. Experts believe that this is another way to reduce the number of immigrants coming to Canada. Recently, the recruitment of low-wage migrants under the ‘Temporary Foreign Worker Programme’ has also been banned. Governments are making such decisions due to many reasons such as rising house prices in Canada, pressure on health services and elections.

Canada cuts visas ahead of election

Visitor and temporary visas have been drastically cut before the elections in Canada. It is also being discussed that there is an intention to reduce the number of immigrants before the elections. Immigrants are being blamed for rising housing and commodity prices in Canada. If we talk about the statistics, in July, Canada rejected 5853 student, work and tourist visas. This was the highest number of rejections since January 2019.
