Morne Morkel’s contract will start from September 1. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah informed PTI about this. When Gautam Gambhir was made the head coach of the Indian team, he suggested the name of Morne Morkel as the bowling coach, which has now been sealed. Morne Morkel has also been the bowling coach of the Pakistan cricket team before this.
Gautam Gambhir and Morne Morkel have also worked together for Lucknow Super Giants. The relationship between the two is also very good. While Gambhir was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, Morkel has been the bowling coach of the franchise. In IPL 2024, Gautam Gambhir left Lucknow to join his old franchise Kolkata Knight Riders. However, Mornie Morkel is still with LSG.
Talking about Morkel’s performance in international cricket, he played 86 Tests, 117 ODIs and 44 T20 International matches. Morkel took 309 wickets in 160 Test innings. Not only this, he has 188 wickets in ODIs and 47 wickets in T20 Internationals.
