Sheikh Hasina, this is your country, we welcome but... Bangladesh government's big statement on the return of former PM, warned

M Sakhawat Hossain, advisor on home affairs (equivalent to the Home Minister) in the interim government of Bangladesh, has said that Sheikh Hasina should return to the country and rejoin politics. Hussain said Hasina should return to the country and reorganize her party Awami League with new faces. Hussain said that there was no pressure on former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to leave the country, she had left Dhaka of her own free will. No one forced him to do so. Hussain said that we will ask him to return and reorganize his party. However, if she returns to the country and tries to create any kind of disturbance then the law will deal with her.

According to the Dhaka Tribune report, Sakhawat Hussain addressed Sheikh Hasina on Monday and said, ‘We have learned that you are planning to return to the country. The question is why did you go from here at all. You went of your own free will and no one forced you. This is your country and we respect you. If you decide to come back you are welcome. The only request is that you should avoid coming back and provoking people or trying to spread anarchy. If you do this then it may be difficult.

Bangladesh’s interim government chief Mohammad Yunus, M Sakhawat and other important leaders have held a meeting with Hindu students and youth. After this meeting, while talking to the press in the Home Ministry, Sakhawat responded to the question of Hasina’s return. He said that when Jatiya Party leader Hussain Muhammad Ershad was given the option of leaving the country or going to jail, Ershad chose to go to jail. We will say that Sheikh Hasina should also return.

Sakhawat said that no political party should be banned as such actions are usually taken to fulfill specific agendas. He also refused to ban Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that a Political Parties Act will be made, which will emphasize that there should be an accountable government in the country instead of dictatorship. Any politician who wants to do politics within this framework can do so.
