Mumbai Rains Live Updates: As torrential rains batter city, local train services hit, Andheri subway shut

Torrential rains in the city have caused Vehar Lake to overflow and the Andheri subway to shut, with multiple areas experiencing flooding. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming hours. Schools and colleges in Raigad and Thane districts are closed due to the heavy rain. Local trains are running at reduced speeds due to low visibility from the heavy rain and high wind speeds.

Due to the heavy rains, Vehar Lake, one of the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai, began overflowing on Thursday morning. Furthermore, news agency ANI reported that the Andheri subway has been closed for vehicular traffic because of waterlogging.

Besides rainfall, there is a strong possibility of gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph. According to the weather department, temperatures are expected to range between a maximum of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of about 24 degrees Celsius.
