3 killed, including TMC leader, in West Bengal

West Bengal: Three people, including a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, were murdered in West Bengal. The incident took place in South 24 Parganas district. Strangers opened fire on TMC leader Swapan Maji and his two associates Zantu Haldar and Panchu Shikari. So all three died on the spot. In Canning district, TMC leader Swapan Mazi was going somewhere on a bike with two of his colleagues. The assailants then stopped the bike and fired indiscriminately at all three. Then fled. So all three died on the spot. Police found empty bullets and bombs at the scene.

The plan was to behead all three leaders, locals revealed

According to local residents, the thugs planned to behead Swapan and his two accomplices. But the thugs fled as residents of the area came out at the sound of bullets and bombs. Swapan Maji, a Trinamool member of Gopalpur Gram Panchayat in Canning, was going to attend a preparatory meeting on July 21 at 9 am. Zantu and Panchu were with him. The thugs surrounded the road of 3 people and they were shot dead.

Swapan had received death threats

Canning West MLA Pareshram Das was present at the scene. Swap had earlier expressed fears of being killed. Said the MLA. I had to go to the police today. But before that the incident happened. Following the incident, a large police convoy from Canning Police Station reached the spot and the bodies were sent for postmortem.
