Oman Flood: Bishan flood wreaks havoc in Oman, 13 lives have been lost; Search for missing people continues

Nature is wreaking havoc in the Middle East city of Oman at this time. 13 people died due to heavy rain on Monday. At least 12 people lost their lives due to the floods. The report said that there were 9 students including two residents and one expatriate. Torrential rains have caused severe flooding in many parts of Oman.

According to the UAE-based Khaleej Times, the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in Oman recovered the body of a man who went missing in the northern Al Sharqiyah Governorate. At the same time, the search for three others, including a child, is still on.

Earlier on Sunday, at least 12 people lost their lives due to flash floods. The report said it included 9 students, two residents and one expatriate. Torrential rains have caused severe flooding in many parts of Oman.

Flood water flowing on roads
Teams of Royal Oman Police, Royal Army of Oman, Civil Defense Authority and ambulance teams evacuated the students from the schools to safe places. In a video going viral on social media, it has been shown that floodwaters have washed over the roads of Oman. People are hiding in their homes. Khaleej Times reported that the Oman Police aviation team carried out a mission to evacuate 21 people from a rural farm to the Al Lasmo area of Quriyat Governorate.

Changed weather in UAE too
Oman’s National Committee for Emergency Management has also alerted all governorates likely to be affected by the rains. Apart from Oman, the UAE may also witness unstable weather conditions, including the possibility of hail, lightning and thundershowers in some areas, the report said.
