'There will be a befitting reply', US-UN pointed fingers at Kejriwal's arrest; Jaishankar stopped speaking
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said countries should avoid making political statements on others’ internal affairs and if any foreign country comments on India’s internal politics, it will get a befitting reply. Jaishankar also objected to the statements of the envoys of the US and Germany as well as the United Nations on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate.
State Bureau, Rajkot. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that India will have to make more efforts for permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The atmosphere in the world today is in favor of India. Addressing the people at the Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata program in Rajkot, he said that one will have to work harder to achieve permanent membership in the UNSC. When it was formed, Russia, China, France, America and Britain had decided everything themselves. These are the five permanent members of the Security Council. He said that the United Nations was formed about 80 years ago, when there were 50 independent countries in the world. But now their number has increased to 193.
The Foreign Minister said that India, Japan, Germany and Egypt have together presented a proposal to the United Nations in this regard. Referring to the incident of bringing Indian students trapped in the Russia-Ukraine war, Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had told him only one thing that the children have to be safely evacuated from there at any cost. After this a meeting of officials of the Ministry of External Affairs was called. Two officers had the courage to go there and the mission was successful.
If this had not been done, oil prices would have skyrocketed.
Jaishankar said that today the world is recognizing the iron power of India. During the Ukraine war, India was under pressure not to take oil from Russia. India focused on national interest rather than pressure and continued to take oil from Russia. We needed to and we did it. Had this not been done, oil prices would have skyrocketed.
Had PM Modi not been there, I might not have been in politics.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not been there, perhaps I would not have been in politics today. To run the country properly, a system has to be created first and for that leadership, performance and motivation are required. PM Modi has all the qualities.
Bureaucrats should not try to enter politics
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that the bureaucrats are the same, the employees are the same and the resources are the same, but the working style has changed. He asked the bureaucrats not to try to enter politics. The path of politics is full of ups and downs. Bureaucrats will not be able to fit themselves into it.
Those who raise their eyes towards India will get a strong reply
S Jaishankar said that any country should avoid making political statements on the internal affairs of another country. If any country comments on India’s internal politics, it will get a very strong response. Responding to a question related to the comments of US and Germany as well as UN officials on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the ED, Jaishankar said that India has made it clear that it has objection to such statements.
China’s actions on Arunachal Pradesh are insensitive
He also termed China’s move to release new names of places in Arunachal Pradesh as insensitive. Said that this northeastern state is and will always be a part of India. We are a sovereign country. The fishermen of Tamil Nadu should know who put them in this situation. Taking a dig at Congress leader P. Chidambaram over the Katchatheevu island dispute, the External Affairs Minister said the fishermen of Tamil Nadu should know who put them in this situation. The then Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi did not give any importance to the island.
