Meghtandav in North Gujarat: Palanpur-Ahmedabad highway flooded to the knees, heavy rains in Tharad, several trees fell in Patan

The Meteorological Department has predicted two days of heavy to very heavy rain in North Gujarat due to Biparjoy cyclone. It is raining in Patan, Palanpur, Sabarkantha, Aravalli and Mehsana since Thursday night. Heavy rains are lashing Siddhapur, Radhanpur, Santalpur, Sami, Harij, Shankeshwar and Saraswati talukas of Patan district. Many trees have fallen due to it. So it is raining in Palanpur, Disa, Tharad, Vav, Deodar and Suigam talukas of Banaskantha district. Due to this, the low-lying areas are flooded.

Power outage in many areas, heavy rain in Tharad
Areas including Tharad bus stand of Banaskantha district have been flooded, while the Tharad-Bhabhar highway is also causing heavy distress to motorists. Societies in Tharad are inundated due to heavy rains. In Somnath Society of Tharad, houses are flooded with knee-deep water and household goods are soaked. Several small roads in the district have been closed for small vehicles. Meanwhile, the Palanpur-Ahmedabad highway is flooded. A side road has been closed for it. Due to heavy wind and rain, many trees and power poles have collapsed, causing power outage in the areas of the district. In the rural areas of Dhanera, due to heavy rains, water has flowed in small walks. Due to this, Rini to Annapur road has become flooded. Kedi-Makodi river is flowing between Mandali-Jashwantpura of Danta taluka.

Electricity outage for last 24 hours
Due to torrential rains in Radhanpur, Main Bazar’s Masali Road, ST. Areas including bus stand and referral hospital are flooded. There is a power outage here for the last 24 hours. As the trees fell, a team of SDRF, municipality and forest department has started to remove the fallen trees.
