Bihar Train Accident: 42 years ago i.e. in 1981, the country’s biggest train accident took place in Bihar. A train full of passengers overturned on Bridge No-51 over Bagmati River on the Mansi-Saharsa railway section. 800 people died in this accident.

A horrific train accident took place in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday evening, where the Coromandel Express and a freight train collided near Bahnaga station. So far 237 people have died in the accident, while hundreds of people have been badly injured. But this is not the first major train accident of the country. Today we will talk about the Bihar train accident that happened 42 years ago, which is considered to be the biggest train accident in the country.

The day was June 6, 1981. A train full of passengers overturned on Bridge No-51 over Bagmati river between Badla Ghat-Dhamara Ghat station on Mansi-Saharsa railway section. There were total 9 coaches in this train.

9 coaches of the train fell into the raging Bagmati. This train was going from Mansi to Saharsa. 800 people died in this accident. According to the information, on 6th June 1981, the train was moving safely till Mansi. At three o’clock in the evening, the train reached Badla Ghat. After stopping for a while, the train slowly moved towards Dhamara Ghat.
