Union government bans 14 Pakistani messenger apps used by terrorists

Central government has taken strict action against 14 Pakistani messenger apps. The central government has banned 14 messenger apps operating from Pakistan. It is being said that terrorists used these mobile messenger apps to send and receive messages from Pakistan.
This messenger mobile application was used as a communication platform by terrorists in Pakistan to transmit information to Jammu and Kashmir.
14 Ban on mobile messenger applications
After receiving input from intelligence agencies, the central government has blocked 14 mobile messenger apps of Pakistan. Sources said that these apps were used to spread terror on a large scale in Jammu and Kashmir.
A revelation made while tracking conversations
According to sources, the app was used by militants in Kashmir to communicate with their supporters and those working at the ground level. The agencies are monitoring the channels used by overground workers and terrorists to communicate with each other, an official said. While tracking the conversations, the agencies found that the mobile app did not have representatives in India and it was difficult to track the activities on it.
Pakistani app is a threat to national security
According to the official, this was followed by the help of other intelligence agencies operating in the Valley to prepare a list of such apps, which pose a threat to national security and do not comply with Indian law. After the list was prepared, the concerned ministry was requested to ban these mobile apps. The official said that these apps have been blocked under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Ban on these apps
Sources said that these apps include Crypvisor, Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikerme, Mediafire, Briar, Beechat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Jangi, Threema etc.
250 Chinese apps also banned
About 250 Chinese apps have also been banned in the past few years. As of June 2020, more than 200 Chinese apps, including TikTok, Shareit, WeChat, Helo, Likee, UC News, Bigo Live, UC Browser, Xender, Camscanner, as well as popular mobile games such as PUBG Mobile and Garena. Free fire has been banned.
