The financial year 2022-23 is about to end. Many changes are going to happen from April 1. Luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz India has announced an increase in car prices from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 12 lakh. The new car prices will be effective from 1 April 2023. The company has hiked the prices of the car for the second time in three months. Earlier in January 2023, Mercedes prices increased by 5%.
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said in a media interaction on Thursday (March 9), that the rupee has weakened against the Euro in the last few months. One euro was around 78-79 rupees in October, which has come down to 87 rupees now. Due to which the cost of production has increased. If we do not raise prices, our business in India may be affected. This is the reason why car prices will have to increase by 5%.
Just 14 days ago, they joined hands with Google
Luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz on February 23 announced a long-term strategic partnership with Google to improve its navigation experience. The partnership will help Mercedes-Benz create a driving experience that combines information from Google Maps with luxury cars, the company said in a statement.
Mercedes cars will get new features of place details
With this partnership, Mercedes-Benz is also giving its customers the first new features like Place Details offered by Google. The company has also agreed to further collaborate using Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence (AI), data and open infrastructure solutions.
To get the Mercedes-Benz Infotainment System YouTube app
The partnership will also bring the YouTube app to the Mercedes-Benz infotainment system. In addition, Mercedes-Benz will use Google Maps data to enable assistive driving features.
Mercedes will take on Tesla and BYD
This partnership with Mercedes-Benz will help it fight against other Chinese players like Lon Musk’s Tesla and BYD. Meanwhile, other car manufacturers such as General Motors, Renault, Nissan and Ford have also embedded the full package of Google services into their vehicles. Many services like Google Maps and Google Assistant have been incorporated.
