H3N2 Influenza spreading like Corona: Ex-AIIMS Director Guleria said- Be alert, wear mask and follow social distance

Former Director of AIIMS Dr. Randeep Guleria has appealed to the people to be cautious of the H3N2 influenza that is spreading in the country. He has said that it spreads like Corona. To avoid it, wear a mask, follow social distance and wash your hands frequently. Elderly people and those with pre-existing medical conditions may have more problems.


Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry has called a meeting with health experts to discuss the increasing cases of H3N2 influenza. In this, experts said that the cases of corona have decreased in the country, but the cases of flu are increasing. The flu can be dangerous for people with weak immunity. Experts have advised wearing a mask in crowded places to avoid it.

Influenza cases are increasing in the country in two months

Influenza cases are increasing in many parts of the country including the capital Delhi in the last two months. After the corona epidemic, people are afraid of increasing cases of flu, because its patients have seen symptoms similar to corona. In the last few days, many patients have reached the hospital in Delhi and surrounding areas, suffering from high fever and cough for 10-20 days.


The ICMR report said that a sub-strain of influenza virus H3N2 has been spreading for the past two-three months. Symptoms of this strain were found in infected people in many parts of the country. Experts say this variant causes more hospitalizations than other sub-strains.

Patients have symptoms like headache, cough, fever


Sushila Kataria, senior director of Medanta Hospital, said that these patients are infected with H3N2 strain of influenza-A virus. A flu patient has fever for 2-3 days. Body aches, headache, sore throat, besides this, the patient has been having persistent cough for two weeks. These are common symptoms of flu.
