Flu like Covid is spreading in the country: Symptoms are similar to Corona, IMA advises - take antibiotics carefully

Influenza cases have been on the rise in many parts of India, including the capital Delhi, for the past two months. Due to the increasing cases of flu after the corona epidemic, people are afraid because the patients who are fighting it are showing corona-like symptoms. In the last few days, many such patients have reached the hospital from Delhi and surrounding areas, suffering from cough with fever for 10-12 days.


An ICMR report states that a sub-type of influenza virus H3N2 (H3N2) has been circulating for the past two-three months. Symptoms of the same strain have been observed in people in many parts of the country. According to experts, this variant leads to more hospitalizations than other subtypes.

Symptoms like headache, cough, fever are observed in patients

Sushila Kataria, Senior Director, Department of Internal Medicine, Medanta Hospital, said that these patients were infected with the H3N2 strain of influenza A virus. A flu patient has high fever for 2-3 days. The patient has cough for two consecutive weeks, body aches, headache, sore throat. These are considered common flu symptoms.


Patients suffering from severe lung diseases like bronchitis

Primus Sleep and Critical Care Medicine Head S.K. Chhabra told news agency IANS that along with viral fever, patients are experiencing severe lung problems like cold, cough and bronchitis. Along with this, cases of chest pain and viral infection are also being seen.

Wear a face mask and avoid going to crowded places

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.

Avoid touching nose and mouth.

Cover your nose and mouth well when coughing or sneezing.

Keep yourself hydrated, drink fruit juice or other drinks in addition to water.

Take paracetamol if you have fever.
