Verdict on Sisodia's bail plea on March 10: Rouse Avenue court seeks reply from CBI, decision on remand within few minutes
Manish Sisodia, arrested in the Delhi Liquor Policy case, was produced in Rouse Avenue Court today. Meanwhile, the CBI had sought the remand of Sisodia for 3 more days before the court. The court will soon give a verdict on the request for extension of remand. While the decision on Sisodia’s bail application will come on March 10.
On February 27, the court sent him on five-day remand, which is ending today (March 4). In this regard, Sisodia filed a bail application in the lower court on Friday. Earlier, he had approached the Supreme Court for bail, but the SC rejected his plea and asked him to go to the High Court.
The CBI arrested Sisodia on February 26 after eight hours of interrogation. He was produced in court on February 27. Court gave 5 days custody to CBI. On the morning of February 28, Congress leader and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi petitioned the Supreme Court against Sisodia’s arrest. He appealed to the court to hear the matter immediately, which the court accepted.
A bench of CJI Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha heard the case on February 28 at 4 pm. According to news agency ANI, the court while rejecting the petition said that you go to the High Court, what is the point of coming directly to us. We cannot promote a false tradition. On the other hand, after Sisodia’s arrest, he and Satyendra Jain, who was already in jail, resigned as ministers.
Atishi and Saurabh will be the new ministers of the Delhi government
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has sent the names of Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bharadwaj to LG for approval. Kailas Gehlot and Rajkumar Anand will now take charge of Sisodia and Jain’s department. A gazette notification has also been issued in this regard. Saurabh Bhardwaj has been the transport minister in Kejriwal’s first 49-day government. Atishi has been Sisodia’s advisor in Marle’s education sector.
CBI arrest after 8 hours of interrogation
The CBI had told the Delhi court that Sisodia was not cooperating with the investigation. They are giving roundabout answers to every question, hence their 5 days remand is required. Sisodia’s lawyer opposed it. His argument was that sending the Deputy CM on remand would send the wrong message.
