Odisha Gold Mines: The Minister of Odisha said that the survey conducted by Directorate of Geology and GSI has revealed gold deposits at several places in Kyonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Devgarh districts. Last year the GSI survey discovered gold deposits at different locations in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
In response to a written question raised by Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir Kumar Samal, the Minister said that the survey of the Directorate of Mines and Geological Survey of India has revealed the presence of gold deposits in three districts including Devgarh, Kyonjar and Mayurbhanj. (AFP Photo)
According to Mallick, these gold deposits have been found at four sites in Kyonjhar district, four sites in Mayurbhanj district and one site in Devgarh district. (AFP Photo)
A few days ago, Geological Survey of India discovered a deposit of 59 lakh tonnes of lithium, an important metal used in making electric vehicles and solar panels, in Riasi district. (PTI)
Lithium falls under the category of scarce resources and was previously not available in India, due to which India was dependent on its imports. Now the G-3 study conducted by GSI has revealed that the lithium deposits in Salal village situated in Talahti of Mata Vaishno Devi Tirtha are of high quality. (PTI)
A typical lithium grade is 220 parts per million, an official said. While the lithium reserves found in Jammu and Kashmir are of more than 550 ppm grade and the reserves are about 59 lakh tonnes, which will outpace China in terms of lithium availability. (PTI)
