India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, Friday September 2, in Kochi, Kerala. The aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, which will be inducted into the Navy, has several features. With Vikrant joining the Navy, India’s strength in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region will increase peace, security and stability. INS Vikrant, similar to a floating city, is India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier. Which will prove to be a real game changer. Top Indian Navy officials believe that the commissioning of Vikrant will enhance peace, security and stability in the Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific region. Vikrant’s flight deck area is the size of two and a half hockey fields, which is approximately 12,500 square meters. Vikrant also has a short runway and a long runway equipped with sky-jumps.

It has a large number of indigenous equipment and machinery, including more than 100 MSMEs along with major industrial houses of the country. With the commissioning of Vikrant, India will have two operational aircraft carriers, strengthening the country’s maritime security. Multi-Specialty Hospital

It is reported that the ship has 15 decks, a multi-specialty hospital, a pool, a kitchen and special cabins for women and of course, the ship has fighters, weapons and recovery technology. Vikrant has 2,300 compartments and 2,400 km of cables are used to build it. According to information, it has eight huge power generators and can produce four lakh liters of water per day.

Other features of Vikrant

It has been said that 76 percent of Vikrant’s ingredients are indigenous. Vikrant is powered by four gas turbines with a total power of 88 MW. Unlike US Navy carriers, Vikrant’s flight deck will have a STOBAR (Short Take-off But Arrested Recovery) configuration with sky-jumps, which will give the aircraft extra lift during take-off. On the flight deck, arresters have wire tail hooks that act to stop the plane. If the pilot misses all three wires, he has to make another attempt at landing
