AAP's troubles increase: Gujarat state president Gopal Italia arrested in Delhi, made controversial statement about PM Modi
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat state president Gopal Italia has been arrested by the Delhi Police. Italy was summoned by the National Commission for Women (NCW) today at 12:30 pm after a video of Italy’s objectionable comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi went viral. He was arrested in Delhi when Italy went to appear.
It is worth mentioning that the NCW had issued a notice against Italy saying that the use of objectionable words against Prime Minister Modi had insulted the women of the entire country. Italia reached NCW’s Delhi office on Thursday afternoon to respond to the notice. But he was arrested before that. An old video of Italia addressing women went viral.

Why did the controversy arise?
Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Gujarat state president Gopal Italia’s video calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘ugly’ has sparked controversy after it suddenly went viral. It is not confirmed when this video is from, but it seems to be two-three years old. In this matter, BJP state vice-president Gordhan Zafia has termed this kind of mentality of AAP as anti-national. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has asked Italy to explain that the comments against Modi have insulted the women of the country. However, Italia has said about this video in Surat that it shows anti-Patidar mentality of BJP, so they are targeting me by removing my old videos.

In the viral video, Gopal Italia is seen saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an ‘ugly’ person. I can’t confirm, but I want to ask you, has any former Prime Minister of the country failed to vote like this? This ‘ugly'” The kind are doing roadshows here and showing how they are ‘C’ing’ the country. You can understand what I mean. They talk about digital India and come from Delhi to Gujarat to vote.”

Regarding this viral video, Gopal Italia said that Bharatiya Janata Party is an anti-Patidar party. I have fought against them since the reservation movement till now. However, he did not properly explain about this viral video.
Mani Shankar of Congress had called Modi ‘ugly’ in 2017
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time an opposition leader has used the word ‘ugly’ for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier in 2017, Congress national leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had also used the word ‘ugly’ about Modi. Even at that time there was a lot of uproar and Iyer was severely criticized.
