J-K DG Murder Case: The murder of DG (Prisons) Hemant Lohia of Jammu and Kashmir has created an uproar. In the case of his murder, the needle of suspicion is now hanging on the servant and an officer. Lohia was murdered at his residence and the police suspect his servant who is absconding now. Apart from this, one officer is also missing. DGP Dilbagh Singh said that a search operation has been launched to nab the servant named Yasir. The suspect also tried to set Lohia’s body on fire. Lohia was promoted as DG (Prisons) of Jammu and Kashmir in August.

ADGP Mukesh Singh said that Lohia, a 1992-batch IPS officer, was found dead at his upscale residence on the outskirts of Jammu city with his throat slit and burn marks on his body. He said preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that Lohia might have applied some oil on his leg which was also showing swelling. He said the killer first strangled Lohia to death and then used a broken ketchup bottle to slit his throat. Later they tried to set the dead body on fire.

He said security personnel present at the officer’s house saw fire inside Lohia’s room and found the door locked from inside, which was broken open. Mukesh Singh said that preliminary investigation at the scene points to murder. He said that the servant is absconding and a search has been started for him. Forensic and crime teams are at the scene.
