Kinjal Dave: Due to a dispute over copyright, the City Civil Court has banned Kinjal Dave from singing the song ‘Char Char Bangadiwali’.
Popular Gujarati singer Kinjal Dave, who is known for the song ‘Char Char Bangadiwali Gaadi’, has been dealt a major blow by the City Civil Court of Ahmedabad. In fact, due to a copyright dispute with the music management company, the City Civil Court has banned Kinjal Dave from singing this famous song. That means now Kinjal Dave will not be able to sing his famous song. The company has also alleged copyright infringement.
Order not to sell this song as CD and Cassette
Chambers judge Anandlip Tiwari has ordered Kinjal Dave and two firms – RDC Media and Saraswati Studios – not to sell the copyrighted song on CDs and cassettes. A copyright case filed by Red Ribbon Entertainment Pvt Ltd has also banned the song from being played in live concerts until the court reaches a decision.
What is the whole controversy
From 20 December 2016, RDC became popular by uploading songs on Gujarati YouTube channels. In January 2017, Red Ribbon Entertainment Pvt Ltd claimed that Australia’s Karthik Patel had conceptualized the song in November 2015. On 29 September 2016, he uploaded the video on the YouTube channel of Kathiawadi Kings. That means Kartik Pachel is the owner of this copyrighted song.
Allegedly, Kinjal Dave copied this song with minor changes. Kinjal sent a notice to Dave. Kinjal Dave did not appear before the court in the hearing of the case on 23 September 2022. The court noted that Karthik Patel had previously uploaded this song on the Kathiawadi Kings channel.
