History of International Charity Day
International Charity Day is celebrated every September 5. In the year 2012, the United Nations General Assembly officially declared International Charity Day. In 2011, the International Charity Day was initiated by the Hungarian civil society with the support of the Hungarian Parliament and Government. International Charity Day is observed on 5 September on the death anniversary of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa made an unprecedented contribution in eradicating poverty from the society, helping the needy and alleviating their problems.
International Charity Day serves to promote social responsibility among us all, solidarity and public support for charitable causes. The day is a great opportunity to raise awareness of philanthropy and provide a platform for charity events on a global scale.
