This racing car was sold for 142 million dollars i.e. 1100 crore rupees. Earlier, Ferrari 250 GTO held the record of being the most expensive car in the world. Which was sold for 542 crores. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR was auctioned on May 5 at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany. This auction has broken the auction record of Ferrari 250 GTO.

Know, when was this car made?




According to media reports, only two models of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR were produced by the company in the 1950s. After this, Mercedes stopped making this racing car in 1955. These two hightop variants of Mercedes have a three-liter engine (Three-liter engine in two hightop variants). Its capacity is 302 PS. Its engine is very strong. It was the fastest car of its time.

83 spectators including the driver were killed




This racing car was also launched on the racing track. In the year 1954, this car performed wonders in the race. Winning 9 out of 12 races, the car caught the attention of the public. According to a report, when this racing car landed on the racing track at the Le Mans race in 1955, 83 spectators including the car driver were killed in the accident. Mercedes stopped this racing in 1955.

Previous record holders




Many of the top priced cars sold at auction are Ferraris. The previous record holder, the Ferrari 250 GTO, won the 1964 Le Mans 24 Hours. In 2013, the Mercedes-Benz W196 was sold for $29 million (approximately Rs. 225 crore). Raced by Juan Manuel Fangio, it was the most expensive Mercedes-Benz sold at auction until the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut.
