Shiv Katha - Story of Lord Shiva

A rich merchant lived in Amarpur town. His business was spread far and wide. That businessman was very respected in the town. Inspite of all this, he was very unhappy with the commercial mind. Because that merchant had no son. Day and night he was only worried that what would happen to his business after his death? Who will take care of his so much property? He worshiped Lord Shiva every Monday with the desire to get a son.

Seeing the devotion of that merchant, one day Parvati said to Lord Shiva, O Lord! This businessman is your true devotee and he also worships you very much. So you fulfill this commercial wish.

Lord Shiva said that O Parvati in this world everyone gets the fruits according to their deeds. Even so, Parvati did not believe and told the Lord that you must fulfill this wish. He is a very good devotee of yours. And worships you very much. So you must give him the boon of getting a son

Seeing so much insistence of Parvati, Lord Shiva said that on your insistence I am giving the boon of a son to that businessman. But his son will not live more than 16 years.

That night God appeared to the businessman in his dream and blessed him with a son and also told him that your son will not live more than 16 years.

The businessman was very happy to get God’s boon, but his happiness was reduced when he heard about the death of his son. The merchant continued his Monday fast as before. After some time a beautiful son was born in his house. He celebrated the birth of his son with great fanfare.

The businessman was not happy about the birth of a son as he knew his son’s short life. No one in his house knew this secret except him. His son was named Amar by the learned Brahmins.

When Amar turned 12, he decided to move to Varanasi to study. The merchant called his maternal uncle Dipchand and asked him to come and send Amar to Varanasi for punishment. Amar and Ten Mama left for Varanasi.

After a long journey, Amar and his uncle reached a town. As it was the wedding of the daughter of the king of the town, the whole town was decorated. Jan came at the right time but the groom’s father was very worried because his son was blind. And he was afraid that if the king came to know about this, he would refuse the marriage and be disgraced.

When the groom’s father saw Amar, an idea came to his mind that let’s make this boy a groom and marry him to a princess. After the marriage, I will send him away with a lot of money and bring the princess to my town.

When the groom’s father spoke to Amar’s maternal uncle about this matter, he was tempted by money and accepted the groom’s father’s words. Amar married the princess by dressing him as a bridegroom.

When Amar was coming back, he could not hide this so he wrote on the princess’s odha that Princess, you are married to me, I am going to Varanasi for education. Now the young man you want to be the wife of is one eye and ear.

When the princess read the writing on this odhani, she refused to go with the kana boy. Knowing all this, the king kept the princess in his palace. On the other hand, Amar reached Varanasi with his maternal uncle and started studying.

When Amar became 16 years old, he performed a yajna and after the yajna was completed he fed the brahmins and donated food and clothes. If the immortal sleeps at night, according to God’s blessing, his life goes away in his sleep. In the morning, his uncle found him dead and turned on the rock. Seeing this, the surrounding people gathered and expressed grief.

Shiva and Parvati heard Mama’s crying sound passing by and Parvati said to Lord Shiva that I can’t bear this crying, so you must remove this person’s pain.

So Lord Shiva said that this is the same businessman’s son whom I had given the boon of 16 years of life. His life is over.

Parvati again declared to Lord Shiva that O Lord! You bring this boy back to life. Otherwise his parents will give their lives to Roi Roi because of their son’s death. And this boy’s father is your unique devotee. He has been victimizing you by fasting on Mondays for years. Due to Parvati’s insistence, God gave the boy life again. He came back to life in no time.

After completing the punishment, Amar walked towards his town with his maternal uncle. Both of them walked and reached the same town where Amar was married. In that town too Amar organized Yagya. While passing by, the king there saw the yajna planned.

The king recognized Amar immediately and after the yajna was over, the king took Amar and his maternal uncle with him to the palace. The king kept them with him for a few days and then sent them away with the princess with a lot of money.

On reaching the town, Dipchand sent a messenger to the house and announced his arrival. The businessman was overjoyed to hear that his son had returned alive.

Both the businessman and his wife locked themselves in a room and gave up food and drink and decided that if the news of their son’s death was received, they would both give up their lives.

The businessman arrived at the edge of the town with his wife and friends. of his son’s marriage

Hearing the news, his happiness did not stop. On the same night, Lord Shiva came to the merchant in his dream and said that seeing your devotion and your fasting on Monday I am pleased with you, so I am giving the boon of long life to your son. The businessman was very happy to hear this.

Due to fasting on Monday, happiness returned to the businessman’s house.

It is also said in the scriptures that one who observes Monday fast and listens to his story will have all his wishes fulfilled.
