17 fetuses found in a garbage dump in Howrah, Bengal: 10 girls and 7 boys; Dogs roam around; The police started an investigation

A shocking incident has come to light from Uluberia town of Howrah district of West Bengal. Here, 17 fetuses have been found from the garbage heap. Out of these fetuses found in Ward No. 31 in Uluberia’s Banibala Khara area, 10 are girls and 7 are boys. Each fetus has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem.

According to sources, when the municipal cleaners went there to collect the garbage, they found fetuses in a plastic bag. Police have started investigation. There are believed to be many hospitals around Uluberia. People suspect that fetuses are dumped in dumping grounds after abortions.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, the surrounding people have also reached the spot. Local people have also complained about this to the municipality, but no action has been taken so far. Now the top official of the district health department has taken the matter seriously. Officials have been asked to investigate the incident. Apart from this, it has been asked to bring the CCTV footage of the local nursing home and its surroundings, so that the people who threw these fetuses in the dumping ground can be identified.

More than 30 private hospitals within 1.5 km area

Uluberia has around 30 private hospitals within a one-and-a-half km area, so locals and the police suspect that fetuses are dumped in the dumping grounds after abortions there. On coming to know about the incident, the vice chairman of the municipality Emanur Rahman reached the spot. Local people said that all these fetuses were often lying in the dumping ground. Dogs were roaming around it. Despite informing the municipality, no action was taken.

Remains of 7 fetuses were found in Karnataka

About 2 months ago, a similar incident also came to light in Karnataka. On June 25, remains of 7 fetuses were found in a barn here in Belagavi. Each fetus was only 5 months old. The incident took place near a bus stand in Mudalgi town of Belagavi. The police suspected that these fetuses were dumped after abortions in hospitals around the bus stand. The police are investigating the matter.
