Drug finds continue: 40 more packets found in Gir Somnath, total to 200; Estimated to have a market value of crores

On the second day of the search operation, 40 packets of narcotic substances were recovered from the beach in Gir Somnath district. After 20 packets were recovered from one bag, a bag was also found at Dhamlej Bandar in Sutrapada, from which 20 more packets were recovered. Thus, 40 packets were found by noon. Besides, police teams are still searching the 70 km long coastline of the district as per the guidance of ATS. In which there is a possibility of getting more packets till evening. So the police have also coordinated with the leaders of the fishermen community living on the sea shore and instructed them to contact the police immediately if they come across such suspicious packets or anything. Thus, as many as 200 packets of suspected narcotics have been found in the district in two days, which is likely to increase to 250 by evening, which security agencies are also taking seriously and further investigating.

Various teams are active in the investigation since yesterday morning

The 70-km coastline of the sensitive Gir Somnath district has been under the leadership of ASP Omprakash Jat since Wednesday morning, PI SL of SOG. Vasava, 10 teams of local police including KJ Chauhan of LCB, PI NG Vaghela of Marine were conducting a search operation along the coast of the district. In which about 160 packets of suspected narcotics were found.

Total 200 packets found

Later, from this morning all the police teams were conducting a search operation with intensive patrolling along the coast of the district. In which a plastic bag was found from the sea shore near Adari near Veraval. Inside which 20 packets of suspected narcotics were found. Besides, a bag was also found at Dhamlej port in Sutrapada by afternoon, from which 20 more packets were also found. Thus, 40 packets were found by noon. Thus, 200 packets found in coastal areas of the district have been found in two days. The police have indicated the possibility of these packets containing charas. Which, if true, is worth crores.

State security agencies on alert

This is the first time that such quantity of suspected narcotics has been recovered from Somnath beach. The security agencies of the state have also become alert. Even now, 10 teams of police under the guidance of ATS are conducting intensive checking in the coastal areas from Somnath to Sutrapada, Mul Dwarka, Kodinar, Nawabandar in the district.
