The Gujarati literary world has suffered an irreparable loss today. Zhaverchand Meghani’s eldest son Mahendra Meghani passed away today. He passed away on August 3, 2022 at 8 pm. Mahendra Meghani, who was born in Mumbai on June 20, 1923, completed 100 years on June 20, 2022.

Mahendra Meghani, who instilled culture through literature for seven decades through quality publications like Milap, Lokamilap, Kavyakodiyan, is no more. Died at the age of 100 at Bhavnagar. The literary legacy of Kasumbal singer and national poet Zhaverchand Medhani was maintained by Mahendra Meghani. Literary interest flowed in the half-century of readings and milaps he wrote. It can be said that the reading journey of half a century has now come to a ‘break’.

It was known as Harti Farti Vidyapeeth




Mahendrabhai used to abridge the excellent writings read in other magazines or books and publish them at a nominal cost. Lokmilap published more than 100 books, delivered lakhs of copies to the readers and was also known as Harti-Farti Vidyapeeth. In the year 1986, on the 90th birth anniversary of Zawerchand Meghani, he undertook a 90-day reading tour of 90 villages. Mahendra Meghani gained much fame in the 21st century with the five volumes of his literary compilation ‘Addhi Saadini Vachanayatra’.

Mahendra Meghani Funeral Residence Shantikunj Apartment (Vadodaria Park to Phulwadi Chowk Road, Bhavnagar) Dt. He will leave at 8 am on Thursday, August 4 and go to Sindhunagar Crematorium.
