It is likely that 13 cities of the country will get the facility of 5G network by the end of this year. The telecommunication department of the government gave the indication of starting 5G service in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow. After starting the trial in these 13 cities, the 5G will be expanded based on its feedback. Telecom Minister Ashwin Vaishnav said a few days ago that efforts will be made to extend the coverage of 5G network to 20-25 cities in India. Trials are likely to take place in 13 cities initially and within a few months ten more cities will be covered under the 5G network.

At present, the government has not clarified about the monthly plan of 5G. But based on the current 4G plan, experts had made an assumption that an average 5G user would have to pay Rs. 1000 per month. Whether the consumers of rural areas will be willing to pay such a high price will be a different issue. Currently, the 84 days 4G plan of most of the companies is around 500 to 600 rupees. About 200 rupees per month is spent after the 4th year. 5G speed will cost four or five times that. There is also a theory that the price of 5G will decrease after a year and a half of its launch. There will be competition between the operators and then the price will go down, but there is a possibility that 4G will have to be given double price. There is also a possibility that companies may keep prices low for trials.
