Even if the epidemic turns! The responsibility of disposing of the dead bodies of livestock was put on the head of the herdsmen, the government was unconcerned
Death spree and sloppy government….. Countless cows called mothers among Hindus are dying, cattle and herdsmen are helpless and the government has become sloppy. The Lumpy virus has caused such havoc that you will hang your head in shame, the supposed cow keepers are silent and the cows are getting patted. Dead bodies are being thrown at every taluka headquarters, tears are flowing in people’s eyes and the state agriculture minister, Sharma Neve, is saying that there is no emergency… Seeing dead bodies of thousands of cows does not melt the heart of this government. The so-called mother cows are being victimized and the government system is proving to be dwarfed. To open the eyes of this government which is talking dirty, GSTV is bringing death toll day long….
The responsibility of disposing of the dead bodies was thrown on the head of the herdsmen
Lumpy virus is endemic in Saurashtra. Lumpy virus has become a concern for dairy cattle in Morbi as well. In Morbi district, the official death toll due to lumpy virus is 65. But unofficially, the death toll has crossed 100. Due to lack of information, many herdsmen disposed of the animals themselves. Lumpy-affected animals need proper disposal of their dead bodies after death. But in Morbi, in most villages, this responsibility has been put on the head of the herdsmen. The herdsmen also throw the dead bodies in the open in the seam area due to lack of information. It starts rotting. Dead bodies are being dumped in the open behind Macchu Dam. Then it is necessary to dispose of it properly after death.
Impact of GSTV report
The system is not ready to take care of the dying livestock when the lumpy virus has taken hold across the state. In this matter, the GSTV report has echoed in the government offices and the system has started running. Finally, opening the eyes of the government, the animal husbandry minister of the state, Raghavji Patel, has called a meeting of the animal husbandry department on an urgent basis. After showing the shocking scenes by GSTV, the issue of strict measures to be taken in Lumpy Virus is going to be discussed in the meeting.
Those seeking votes in the name of Gaumata are silent today
Leaders seeking votes by making Hindutva and cow mother an issue at the time of elections are today keeping silent for the livestock that are dying due to lumpy virus. Although the system is working at a slow pace to control the spread of lumpy virus, the government does not seem to have the courage to accept the reality.
The animal husbandry department also got running
A large number of cows and cattle are falling victim to Lumpy virus which has become a season for milch cattle in Morbi district. As of today, there are more than 1078 weekly cases in the district. So the weekly death toll is around 65. However, according to the herdsmen, a very large number of their animals have died, but due to lack of knowledge, many of the herdsmen have disposed of them themselves. Following the large-scale death of cattle in Morbi district, on the one hand, a sense of anxiety has spread among the herdsmen. On the other hand, animal husbandry department is also running.

In Morbi district, there is a complaint that the animals caused by Lumpy virus are not properly disposed of. If any animal dies due to Lumpy virus, the responsibility of disposing of those animals rests with the panchayat in rural areas, while in urban areas, it rests with the municipality or municipality. The herdsmen also throw them in the open in the SIM area of the village due to lack of knowledge and due to this the dead bodies of cows or cattle start burning in the open. A very large number of dead bodies are being disposed of in the open in this way behind Machhu Dam, not far from Jodhpar village near Morbi. A very large number of dead bodies of cattle are lying at this place. There is no information about where these dead bodies come from and who dumped them.
Also, there is no information about how many of these animals have died naturally or due to Lumpy virus, the way the dead bodies of animals are haphazardly lying in the open at this place is worrisome. Because Machhu 2 Dam is located many km away from this place. Why the body is not buried properly is a big question whether this serious negligence is in the mind of someone or not. It is also a big question whether the animal husbandry department and the district administration have knowledge about this.
Despite the death of more than 1200 animals from lumpy in Saurashtra, the government is helpless to help!
In Saurashtra, livestock are being pushed to the face of death due to lumpy virus, despite the virus spreading in most of the villages, the system is making claims of sub safety. Even though more than 1200 cattle have died every week in Saurashtra, no guide line has been issued as if the government has raised its hand in the matter of assistance to the cattle owners. The Ministers and the system are constantly being submitted but no decision has been taken yet. The farmers who have been put in financial trouble due to the death of milch cattle are furiously demanding the government to announce immediate assistance.
Lumpy virus has spread in all 11 districts of Saurashtra. Satawar sources in the animal husbandry department have admitted that more than 1200 cattle have died in more than 1500 villages, although the non-Satawar death is likely to be as high as two and a half thousand. Lumpy virus has been spreading among cattle for the last two months and even though death cases are coming to light, even a single rupee has not been paid to those whose animals have died. In Saurashtra, animal husbandry plays a major role in the rural economy, but the milk income of the farmers has been hit hard by the death of dairy cattle. Thousands of families are dependent on milk income.
Officials with the Disaster Department said that if an animal dies due to a calamity like flood, storm, earthquake or electrocution, Rs. 25000 to 30000 assistance is paid but no circular or notification of assistance in case of death due to lumpy disease has come from Govt. Assistance is available in case of killing of wild animals. Meanwhile, the animal husbandry department officials said that when animals die, a team is sent and a report is made, but no form is filled for financial assistance. No guide line from the government has been found in this regard. In the same way financial aid was given to the deceased in Corona, the Goishala managers – the stockholders are doing to announce the aid in Lumpy. Maldharis are also protesting for this in the District Panchayat – Taluka Panchayat offices.
