Lord Shiva has twelve Jyotirliga in India. All these Jyotirlingas are mentioned in Shiv Purana. By darshan of these twelve Jyotirlinga, the fruits of all pilgrimages are obtained.




In the eighth chapter of Patal Khand of Padma Purana, it is said about Jyotirliga that all the desires of a person who sees this Dwadash Jyotirliga are fulfilled. By whose grace heaven and glory are attained.

Many festivals related to Shiva are celebrated in India. In which Shravan month also holds its special importance. Four Mondays, one Pradosh and one Shivratri during the entire month of Shravan, all these yogas come together in the month of Shravan so it is more fruitful. Shivamuth is offered on every Monday of this month. which is as follows-




A handful of raw rice on the first Monday, a handful of white sesame on the second Monday, a whole mug on the third Monday, a handful of barley on the fourth Monday.

Women perform special worship and fast in the month of Shravan for the long life of their husbands. And among all the fasts, the sixteen Monday fast is the best. This fast can be started from any Monday in the months of Vaishakh, Shravan, Kartak, and Magashar. This fast ends on the seventeenth Monday by giving food and some other donation to sixteen couples.

Bilipatra is very important in the worship of Shiva. After being poisoned by Shiva, devotees perform water ablution on Shiva’s head with the edge of water. Shiva has carried Ganga on his head.




The eleventh incarnation of Shiva was in the form of Hanuman. During the entire Shravanamas, Shivapurana, Shivalilamrita, Shiva Kavach, Shiva Chalisa, Shiva Panchakshara Mantra, Shiva Panchakshara Swara, Mahamrityanjaya Mantra are recited and chanted by Shiva devotees. Doing this in Shravana month gives more fruits.
