Gujarat Election: Arvind Kejriwal on Mission Gujarat will make a quick trip in August
Gujarat Election: Political turmoil is increasing in Gujarat these days. Assembly elections are also scheduled to be held in Gujarat at the end of the year. All the parties including BJP and AAP have also started preparations for the elections. Leaders are meeting frequently across the state. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will be on a continuous tour of Gujarat in the next few days. Kejriwal has visited Gujarat twice this month.
Aam Aadmi Party’s transformation journey
Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘Parivartan Yatra’, which started on May 15 in view of the Gujarat Assembly elections, is now ending in Mehsana. Aam Aadmi Party’s Tricolor Yatra is being taken out in various assembly constituencies of the state. Through this yatra, AAP workers and leaders have tried to reach out to people and spread their party’s ideology. Aam Aadmi Party’s Tiranga Yatra ends on June 6. The closing program of which has been held in Mehsana city of the state in which Arvind Kejriwal himself will be present.
Along with winning the political battle of Punjab, CM Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party’s entire focus is on the Gujarat elections. This is Kejriwal’s fourth visit to Gujarat in the last three months. Kejriwal’s visit to Mehsana in north Gujarat is taking place at a time when Patidar leader Hardik Patel has left the Congress and joined the BJP. Mehsana is the stronghold of the Patidar community and Hardik Patel also holds sway in this area.
This is the second ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Gujarat, in which Kejriwal will participate. Earlier, Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Singh had their first road show in Ahmedabad on April 2. Following this, to make the electoral climate in Gujarat in its favour, the Aam Aadmi Party had started the Pravarna Yatra from May 15, which is going through all the 182 assembly constituencies of Gujarat and ending in Mehsana.
After visiting Ahmedabad, Kejriwal visited Rajkot in Gujarat on May 11, where he tried to woo Patidars. Earlier on May 1, along with BTP chief Chhotu Vasava, addressed the ‘Adivasi Sankalp Mahasamelan’ in Bharuch, a tribal-Muslim-dominated area of Gujarat. Along with this, now Mehsana area has been selected to strengthen the political base of Aam Aadmi Party in North Gujarat area.
Role of Patidars
Farmers, Patidars, OBCs and tribals play an important role in the politics of North Gujarat region. The Padidar movement has had the greatest impact in this area. Hardik Patel, who became the face of the Patidar movement, has now joined the BJP. Alpesh Thakor, an OBC leader from Gujarat, also hails from this area and is also involved in the BJP. Both the anti-BJP faces in North Gujarat have left the Congress, leaving the Aam Aadmi Party eager to spread its legs.
Political Mathematics of North Gujarat
Let us tell you that there are 53 assembly seats in North Gujarat region. In the 2017 assembly elections, out of 53 seats in North Gujarat, 35 seats are held by the BJP and 17 seats by the Congress. At the same time, in the 2012 assembly elections, the BJP had 32 seats and the Congress 21 seats in the constituency.
North Gujarat includes Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravli, Mehsana and Patan districts. It is believed that this time Congress will take on BJP in Gujarat, but nothing has happened. In Hardik Patel’s home district Mehsana, BJP has got 4 seats and Congress 3 seats. In Banaskantha, 3 BJP and 6 Congress got, in Gandhinagar 2 BJP and 3 Congress.
Not only Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thacker, veteran leader Shankarsinh Vaghela also hails from North Gujarat. Shankar Singh Vaghela played an important role in the good results of the Congress in the region in the 2012 elections, but in the 2017 elections, Vaghela defected from the Congress. Leaving Vaghela’s side proved costly for the Congress. Congress had to suffer huge losses due to Vaghela factor.
Kejriwal’s Mehsana Plan
Arvind Kejriwal plans to win Patidar and OBC votes through a rally in Mehsana in north Gujarat. Employment and education have been issues in the area, which the Aam Aadmi Party is making a political weapon. Gujarat AAP president Gopal Italia said that the people of the state are wise and who goes to which party. It does not matter to the people of the state.
He said that people of Gujarat think about their good education and good health. As Aam Aadmi Party is working for good health and good education for the benefit of people. Similarly, the people of Gujarat will stand with our party in the upcoming assembly elections as well. Gopal said that if Hardik Patel joins BJP, will people get good education? Will you get good health? People going through inflation will get relief? If you are not going to meet, what does it matter to people?
