More than 200 children have fallen victim to AIDS in Moradabad, UP.
A shocking news has come from Moradabad in UP. More than 200 patients have been diagnosed with AIDS. Children who are exposed to HIV-AIDS are also coming in fast. The number of children starting AIDS treatment at the Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) Center at the District Hospital in Moradabad has crossed 200. The number of children suffering from AIDS is higher than the number of children suffering from AIDS being treated at Meerut Medical College in Moradabad.
Children under AIDS are less than ten years old
Most of the children receiving AIDS treatment at the Antiretroviral Treatment Center are under the age of ten. A nine-month-old girl was recently diagnosed with AIDS and is undergoing treatment at an ART center. Moradabad has the highest number of children whose parents have contracted the disease. There are some children whose parents have either AIDS while there are some children whose parents have not suffered from this serious disease.
Many children became infected with AIDS through transfusions
It is estimated that such children contracted the disease due to transfusion of infected blood during treatment in the slums. Ratnesh Sharma, Consultant, ART Center, said that all the children suffering from AIDS are being treated as per the prescribed protocol. Children with AIDS are also being counseled regularly with their parents.
