Two well-known young men get married and divorce happens within five years. The other couple is senior. Up above everything is going well. Daughter is about to get married. But, the father is still looking for love. The wife takes care of him but he is not able to be romantic with her. The film ‘Jug Jug Jio’ is in a way a modern version of Dharma Productions’ film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ released 21 years ago for the new millennials. This is the story of that era in which the son has to enter the field to bring the father back on track. There are three family weddings in the field. Two have happened, the third is about to happen. In the midst of the preparations for this third marriage, the strings of two marriages of the house are getting scattered. The film ‘Jug Jug Jio’ examines the three marriages from different perspectives by turning them upside down. Riding on the boats of sacrifice, sacrifice, expectations, aspirations and hopes and beliefs, this story moves forward in the midst of the real realities of life.

Son’s love story stuck in father’s divorce

The story of the film ‘Jug Jug Jio’ starts from Canada. Riding on the pace of success, Naina has got a big promotion in her own company and for this she has to move from Toronto to New York away from her husband. Naina and Kuku have known each other since childhood. Both of them did love marriage, but after five years of marriage, their self-respect and pride have put a rift in the relationship. Kuku’s sister Ginni’s marriage has been fixed in India and both of them come to India, deciding to postpone their divorce till the completion of this marriage. Kuku’s father Bhima is having an affair with Meera, who was Kuku’s teacher and Bhima, while intoxicated, tells this to his son. The son, looking for an opportunity to talk about his divorce, is stunned to learn about his father’s preparations for divorce. The mother is unaware of both these calamities that have spread in the family. Betty too has agreed to marry a stranger just for the pleasure of the family while she falls in love with a young man who is struggling to find his existence in the world of music.

Good news to Raj Mehta’s Hindi cinema

Director Raj Mehta spent a long time in Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films as assistants to other directors and then made his first film three years ago, ‘Good Newwz’. His style of telling a story by mixing a serious subject in the juice of humor is also seen in the beginning of the film ‘Jug Jug Jio’. Till the interval it seems that Raj Mehta is not able to grasp the subject properly. His direction is also seen wandering in different tracks of the film, but after the interval, the train of the film comes on the track and starts tying the audience with him. And, Raj is helped in this by the strong performances of Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. Raj Mehta has wrapped the film beautifully after this and has taken the film to Happy Edding by creating different scenes for each artist to prove their performance.

The sky of Anil and Neetu’s experience

The film ‘Jug Jug Jio’ draws from the experience of Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor in the cast. Whenever the film seems to be a bit weak, Anil Kapoor fills it with his strange character. The film starts blossoming when Neetu Kapoor talks about her habits and troubles in the ‘charity’ scene of her husband in front of Mira Bunny Tisca Chopra, while her pretense of falling ill handles the story of their affair. The film also gets a lot of help from its supporting cast especially Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli. The highlight of the film is Ginni lashing out at her parents and brother-in-law for not being able to fit into the ideal couple’s slot. And, Maniesh Paul has tried his best to fill the gap of a young comedian that has been going on in Hindi cinema for a long time. There is a good comic relief of his one liner film.

Varun’s Sanjeevani, Kiara’s Charisma

The undercurrent of the movie ‘Jug Jug Jio’ is the love story of Kuku and Naina. Both of them get married at the beginning of the film. After this, both of them have a struggle to get out of this marriage first and then to save this marriage. This film was the toughest challenge for Varun Dhawan, who turned 35. It also takes a jibe at his last flop film ‘Kalank’. Varun’s career has been on a stalemate since the film ‘Judwaa 2’, which came out five years ago. His performance in films like ‘October’ and ‘Sui Dhaaga’ was praised but the films did not earn. Then in ‘Kalank’, ‘Street Dancer 3D’ and ‘Coolie No. 1’, he felt like he would be out of the race but he seems to be back on track with his hard work in the film ‘Jug Jug Jio’. Varun is an energetic actor and Raj Mehta has portrayed him in the right character in the film. Varun Dhawan made good use of the opportunity and also managed to make an impact. Kiara Advani is flourishing film by film. Her acting sometimes really reminds me of Hema Malini. Her boiling over in a fight scene with Varun Dhawan and then realizing her mistake shows her acting prowess.

see don’t see

When Geeta Saini sits down to drink wine by the lake with her daughter-in-law Naina after hearing about her husband’s affair, the essence of the entire film comes down to the dialogues received by Neetu Kapoor here. Daughters who are married to an unknown man bring hope of love in another house. Even before both can become husband and wife properly, both become parents. Then when the children grow up and move away, both get a chance to become husband and wife again, but by then both have become used to each other. Now a person may be good or bad, but where do the habits leave? This is the essence of the film ‘Jug Jug Jio’. This is why the film passes the test of family entertainment because it is a matter of two generations apart from the generation gap of two generations to adjust to the changing thinking of the two generations. The film is fine for a family outing on the weekend.
