Reason for BJP's action after comment on Prophet: Irresponsible statements tarnish PM Modi's image in 8 years

The BJP has appointed people as spokespersons who do not know what vulgar language. If the Hindu-Muslim dispute escalates in India, it will also affect relations with Islamic countries

The BJP is seen in action mode after the Gulf countries protested against the offensive statement against Prophet Mohammad. The party tried to send a strong message by prosecuting its two spokespersons Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar and then compiled a list of such leaders instructing them to refrain from making controversial statements.

The terrorist organization Al Qaeda has also threatened India in this regard. The organization has issued a letter threatening suicide attacks in Delhi, Maharashtra, UP and Gujarat.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an organization of 57 Muslim countries, has protested the issue, and some Arab countries have since begun boycotting Indian products. Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Jordan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Maldives, Libya, Indonesia, Turkey, Malaysia and Pakistan have also strongly opposed the statement.

In such a scenario, the question is how effective will the pressure from Arab countries be? Will the BJP’s strategy change in the coming days? Will the party come across as a soft face instead of a hard face? Bhaskar spoke to experts on these issues. You also understand the whole matter by experts …

Pushpesh Pant, a retired professor of international affairs and JNU, says the BJP has not considered the merits of its spokespersons. People have been appointed as spokespersons who do not know what vulgar language is. What is anti-religious language?

In the case of Nupur Sharma’s statement, even small Muslim countries have started opposing India. Indian products are being boycotted. It has to be understood that India is dependent on the Middle East for basic things like oil and gas. Millions of Indians live in the Gulf countries. In such a scenario these countries can say at any time that they do not need Indian citizens.

After the protest, the BJP had to say that these were the personal views of the party spokesperson. Neither the government nor the party has anything to do with it. How many things can you deny in this way?

In my opinion, this action of BJP is just a show. Attempts have been made to control the damage. His party’s policy will not change. On the contrary, further efforts will be made to alleviate the situation. Other than that, not much can be expected.

Some people started saying what is the situation in Qatar. We will also boycott such countries, but it is important to understand that Qatar has the largest gas reserves and India is the largest importer. The UAE has honored our PM as the highest citizen of the country. The PM’s success in eight years has been tarnished by such statements.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said Shivlings should not be found in every mosque. After this, statements against Bhagwat started circulating on social media. They are being told they are working under political pressure.
