Indians in trouble in Qatar after statement on Prophet: Indians more populated than locals, targeted after hate speech

I am also from Goa. I am a journalist by profession. I have been living in Doha, the capital of Qatar for a long time. Qatar is a small country with a population of around 2.8 million. The population of three lakh is of local people only. More Indians than that live here.

About seven to eight lakh Indians live in Qatar. These include from businessmen, jobseekers to workers, whose roots are still associated in some form in India even today.

In a way, Qatar has the largest population of people of Indian origin, but as soon as a small or big leader in India gives hate speech, makes objectionable remarks about a particular religion or community, its direct effect is small countries like Qatar. Indians living in

Every Indian working here starts feeling himself under pressure. Be it Hindu or Sikh, Muslim or Christian. There is only one religion for every person living abroad, that is Indian. He sees himself connecting with India, but he is unable to separate himself from hate speech and objectionable remarks. He has to face embarrassment due to such hate speech even without wanting to.

Recently, the way BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma remarked about Prophet Mohammad, since then its discussion started in Qatar’s society. There was talk on social media about India all over Qatar. People from other countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal also live here. work.

Therefore, even among the people of those countries, there are discussions of such statements and hate speech in the workplace, due to which Indians feel uncomfortable. The effect of the pressure of the Society was such that two days ago the Government of Qatar had to express its displeasure by calling the Indian Ambassador.

It is not possible to boycott Indian products in Qatar, because a large number of people of Indian origin live here, but there are reports of boycott of Indian products from other Gulf countries. BJP has given a good message by expelling Nupur Sharma from the party. It has also got a good reaction in Qatar, but such statements should be completely banned by the Government of India.

set code of conduct

Government of India should decide that big action can be taken against those making such statements. Such a conduct should be made, so that those who give hate speech are completely stopped. Who gives hate speech? Those giving hate speech have no idea about what kind of image is being created outside India by this. They fear that their employment, jobs and wages will be affected. They are worried that lest they lose their job, their business gets affected, they lose their wages. Those giving hate speech cannot feel that pain.

Those who give hate speech can be of any religion, community, but they should be completely curbed. Although Qatar is a small country, it is the second largest gas exporter in the world. India imports maximum gas from Qatar itself. The government of the country should also keep in mind that when Indians living abroad are strong, then only India will be strong in the world.

OIC, an organization of 57 countries, objected

In a news debate, BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma had allegedly made objectionable remarks on Prophet Mohammad, which the Muslim community is continuously opposing. Recently, Sharma issued a statement saying that his statement was distorted. A case has also been registered against Sharma in many states including Maharashtra.

The controversy escalated so much that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) of 57 Muslim countries condemned Sharma’s alleged remarks. The organization wrote in a post on social media – Cases of violence against Muslims have increased in India in the past. With the ban on the hijab in educational institutions in many states, restrictions are being imposed on Muslims.

However, later the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has objected to the statement of OIC. The Ministry of External Affairs said- India categorically rejects the unnecessary and small-minded comments of the OIC Secretariat. The Indian government gives respect to all religions.
